WHAT NATION IN BIBLICAL PROPHESY IS "MYSTERY BABYLON?"
"For all the nations have drunk from the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality, and the kings and political leaders of the earth have committed immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich by the wealth and economic power of her sensuous luxury.”
Then I heard a voice calling from heaven, “Come out from her, my people. Do not take part in her sins, or you will be punished with her. For her sins are piled as high as heaven, and God remembers her evil deeds. Give back to her as she has given; pay her back double for what she has done. Pour her a double portion from her own cup.
How much she has glorified herself, and lived sensuality and luxuriously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she said in her heart, I sit a queen, and shall see no sorrow.
For this reason her plagues, afflictions, and calamities like pestilence, mourning and famine, will come upon her in just one day, and she will be burned up and completely consumed by fire; for strong and powerful is the Lord God who judges her.
“Then the kings and merchants of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will weep and wail over her, when they see the smoke of her burning. They will stand at a distance off shore, terrified by her great torment. They will cry out, “How terrible, how terrible for you, O Babylon, you great city! In a single moment God’s judgment came on you.”
And merchants of the earth will weep and grieve over her, because no one buys their cargo, goods, and merchandise anymore. She bought great quantities of gold, silver, jewels, and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk, and scarlet cloth; things made of fragrant thyine wood, ivory goods, and objects made of expensive wood; and bronze, iron, and marble. She also bought cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, horses, wagons, and bodies—that is, human slave trade. They will say, “the fancy things you loved so much are gone,” they cry. “All your luxuries, power and splendor are gone forever, never to be yours again.”
The merchants of the world who became wealthy by selling her these things will stand at a distance, terrified by her great torment. They will weep and cry out, “’Woe! Woe to you, great city, dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet, and glittering with lights of gold, precious stones and pearls! Because in one hour all her vast wealth and power has been laid waste.’ And every ship captain or navigator, and every passenger and sailor, and all who make their living by the sea, stood a long way off crying out as they watch the smoke ascend, and they will say, “Where is there another nation as great as this?”
And they will weep and throw dust on their heads to show their grief. And they will cry out, “How terrible, how terrible for that great city! The shipowners became wealthy by transporting her great wealth on the seas. In a single moment it is all gone.” Revelation 18:3-19
