Listen to the Lord who created you. The one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior (Jesus Christ). Isa 43:1-3

Even for those of us who walk with Jesus Christ in spirit and in truth, there are times we forget who we are and our new nature in Christ which is truth, peace, love, and joy.  While it is our obligation to be in the world to share the love of Christ and the good news of salvation to the lost, we sometime mistakenly look to the world, our old life, and the loved-lost for comfort and friendship. This is when God reminds us who we are in Christ Jesus (his beloved) and that we have been bought with the great price of God's Son sacrificed on the cross.  And although we are in this dieing world we are no longer of this dieing world, we have passed from death to eternal spiritual life. Without Christ Jesus there is no hope, only a fearful expectation of death and judgment.

Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins.  There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. (Heb 10:26-27)
